There's four superior leagues in Europe; The English Barclay's Premiere League, the Spanish
Liga, the Italian Serie A, and the German Bundesliga. These leagues have
some of the best clubs, players, rivalries, and fanbase in the world. However I've found the Barclay's Premiere League to be
the most exciting and easiest to follow. My favorite team of the BPL has always been Manchester United, for it's long winning tradition, their loyal fanbase, their team-colors, their star players, and the classic Old Trafford stadium
The Barclay's Premiere League
The European sports leagues are different than the American leagues, through their system of promotion and relegation. This allows clubs/teams to move up or down the ladder of leagues based on their performance. The highest quality of teams become participants of the Premiere League.
Each year the BPL has 20 teams, considered the top quality clubs in the country. The regular season consists of each premier club playing each other twice, home and away. At the end of the season the bottom three teams are demoted into the lower level, while the three top teams of the 2nd tier level are promoted to the BPL. Here's a look at the current 2013-2014 table of the premiership as well as it's history.

History of English Premiere League
The professional English Football league began back in 1983, with numerous clubs emerging to the top tiers. The Premiere League was established in 1992, as the top 20 teams in England to compete against one another in a regular season.
Since it's inception, the BPL has been dominated by four power house teams (Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal) However there have also been other English clubs with great success, history, and rising talent that have recently challenged these four powers (Manchester City, Tottenham, Everton, Aston Villa, Newcastle) This makes the BPL in my opinion the most balanced and exciting league to follow.
