21. Scarface

Director: Brian de Palma
Year: 1983
Actors: Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer
Plot: Set in 1980s Miami, a Cuban refuge named Tony Montana takes advantage of the cocaine boom to become one of the most powerful gangsters in Miami... Once he makes it to the top his greed begins to tear him apart and eventually the criminal underworld gets the best of him.
Music: Giorgi Moroder produced a soundtrack of new wave music, mostly synthesized and electronic... an example is the hit song, "Push it to the Limit" which really captured the scene of 1980s Miami... The movie also has a very haunting theme song...
Why:
  • Classic acting from Al Pacino... so many memorable lines.
  • Dramatic and Artistic filming
  • Awesome settings in Miami and Columbia

Key Moment: The best scene in my opinion is when Pacino goes on his drunken tirade inside the restaurant telling all the other guests that they are a bunch of cowards for not being who they want to be. As he leaves the restaurant he then says his classic line, "So say goodnight to the bad guy!"
